Media Battle: SEA Games 2011

As a proud Pinoy sports enthusiast, I am elated to know that top media conglomerates vie in sports coverage and exposure for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia on November 11-22, 2011.

This is a major leap for local media coverage since the 2005 edition where we hosted the biennial event and finished as overall champion.

Last 2007 edition in Thailand, NBN4 solely covered the event where we only rested 6th among 11 participating nations. Two years later in Laos 2009 SEA Games, IBC13 joined NBN4 as our broadcast channels where the country improved one notch to 5thplace.

Now, Philippine pride will be reborn through sports. Well, credit to Azkals Football, Dragonboat Team, Gilas Basketball, and our elite athletes in Boxing, Billiards, and more. Because of them (and of course media), sports has never been in demand.

As our athletes take pride to represent the country, be proud, support, and enjoy SEA Games through extensive multimedia coverages from TV5, ABS-CBN, and Solar Entertainment.

-------------------------------------

TV5 coverage via AKTV blocktime sports program on IBC13

The coverage said to be officially endorsed by the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission as SEA Games broadcast partner in the country.

MVP as one of Philippine sports godfathers ensures this coverage and even donated Php 10 million for the campaign of our athletes.

More extensive in terms of covering number of sporting events.

Some football games will not be telecast LIVE.

-------------------------------------

The largest network means a multi-platform sports coverage: ABS-CBN, Studio 23, Balls, ANC, DZMM TeleRadyo

"Lakas Pinas" is the official coverage/program title.

More extensive in terms of audience reach in the Philippines and the world.

Boast its LIVE telecast in all football group stages matches of the PHL.

Solar Entertainment Corporation join the SEA Games coverage among its pool of free TV and cable channels.

Highest-grossing Pinoy Film N.O.W.

Star Cinema and Viva Film’s No Other Woman is NOW the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time with Php 210 Million ticket sales in 14 days (as of October 11) beating a Rom-Com flick, You Changed My Life which grossed Php 209 Million. (Source: http://www.pep.ph/guide/movies/9107/no-other-woman-grosses-p210-million-overtakes-box-office-gross-of-you-changed-my-life-%22)

But what made them reach this milestone?

One Reason: Anne Curtis’ more than 1.7 Million Twitter followers made a good share. LOL

Kidding aside, I listed these reasons:

Attraction

Men admire Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes as much as women admire Derek Ramsey. Three of the most fantasized actors today. Perfect casting made perfect attraction for all sexes.

Feel

Aside from Derek, Anne and Cristine attracting also gays and lesbians, it’s the “gayish” feel through lines and confrontations that made them secure the homo society.

Money

Wala naman talaga sa mga bata ang pera, nasa matatanda literally. Kung ayaw ng matanda manood ang mga bata, makakapalag pa ba sila? Pero kapag gusto ng matanda manood, isang text lang buong barkada na ang bitbit. Who’s now afraid of R-13?

Power

Filipinas are curious in nature. They will find a way to look good. They will find a way to keep their man. Their curiosity benefited the film. How did they do it?

Single women on the other hand suddenly know how to fight the battle in time.

Film

No Other Woman is a serious-themed film made campy in a way to enjoy more.
Performance is its major attraction. Even so there are some unintentional comedic acting but I took it in a positive way - it’s like an icebreaker to every dramatic scene.

Engaging lines make an interesting and inviting film.
Good faces and bodies on big screen is a big treat.
More skin, more sexing, more attraction.

Never forget the good promo of the film.

No Other Woman is truly captivating.

G POINT:

The new and hidden Filipina was officially unveiled .

The film also manifests how Filipinos value relationship. Just like we value our family, our relationship to others especially our love ones is a big thing.

Accordingly, No Other Women mirrors the Filipino belief of “No To Divorce”. And the reception of the film defines well its supporters.

G RECOMMENDS:

What else can I recommend? Watch No Other Woman. =)

Congratulations to all the cast, creative and production staff and crew, promo team of No Other Woman for a job well done.

Pilipinas, Tara Na! VERSION 3: A Domestic Tourism Campaign

"Tayo man ay iba-iba, diwa't puso ay iisa."
Just like all the 58 Artists for Philippine Tourism, everyone is encouraged to do their own share in promoting the Philippines.

Travel the country, talk about it and tell everyone you know. Write about your adventures, post photos, videos and updates on Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Google+, Multiply, Blogs, etc., and let everyone see how beautiful the Philippines truly is.

Pilipinas, Tara Na!

This is better than the first video version but not on the second version.

I read a Youtube comment from ivanhenares. I'm not sure how accurate he is on his comment, but let me share you:

"Great video! But please correct the following for a more accurate MTV:
1. Mansion ng Silay but Silliman University in Dumaguete is shown
2. Lumang simbahan ng Paoay but Laoag's sinking belfry is shown
3. Vinta ng Zamboanga but you have images of the paraws of Boracay
4. Boating sa Loboc but you show shooting the rapids in Pagsanjan"

FRUITEVER: The Avocado (Butter Pear)

As far as I remember the first time I met the Avocado was in a regular family dining when I was still very young. It was served as a famous homemade Avocado shake (the usual). From then on, I considered it as one my favorite fruits ever.

Honestly, Avocado is nothing without doing anything on it. You can hardly eat it by its rawness. The basics are either you blend it as milkshake, or mix it with salad.

But before I continue, have you voted for your FAVORITE FRUIT/S EVER? Vote now.

Going back, let me share you these two of my favorite Avocado shakes. If not the most accessible yet delectable Avocado shakes in the metro today:

Big Chill’s Avocado Bliss (Regular- P50, Jumbo- P85)

Coconut Republic’s Coco Avocado Shake, Coconut and Avocado-in-one (Small- P29, Medium- P49, Large- P79) Let me double-check the price.

How about ice cream? Who would not love an Avocado-flavored Ice Cream?

One of my memorable moments with Avocado was when I and my friend Valen almost ate the whole half galloon Avocado Ice cream from Coconut House in Quezon City Memorial Circle.

After around 30 minutes, I felt the pain on my nape and I am suddenly having headache and dizzy. Scared and nervous, I decided to hurry to a clinic. Needless to say, we in the family have a history of high blood. Luckily, nothing’s serious just “Overcado” as in Over Avocado! Nurses just laugh it off. "Takaw ko raw kasi at hindi namigay!” LOL.

If there's an Avocado Ice Cream, for sure there's an Avocado Ice Candy. It's a local treat made of frozen shake fruits or juice. It's like a mini version of milkshake but packed in small ice bag.

Check out Avocado flavor Ice Candy in Fruitas Ice Candy. I found one in SM North Edsa Main Building. It's in the ground floor.

Guess what, I found one of the coolest Avocado-inspired meals.

An Avocado Burger in McDonalds. Did you know that McDonalds in Chile have “McPollo Jr.”? An Avocado-pasted burger. The dressing is called Guacamole, a famous Avocado dip/paste for salad in Latin America. Indeed, Love for Avocado at its best!

GUACAMOLE

Here it is:

Nice noh? Looks yummy!

Some quick facts: Dubbed as the most nutritious fruits ever, Avocados are high in fat. No wonder it is also called as “Butter Pear”. But this fat is Monounsaturated Fats which is actually a good kind of fat for our body.

Trivia 101: Avocados have 60% more potassium than Bananas.

However, we cannot enjoy Avocados everyday because it is seasonal. Its peak season in the Philippines is from May to September. So, let's just wait until next year. Patience! =)

G RECOMMENDS: Warning, excessive intake of Avocado fruit might result to weird and stinky smell of your “utot” (fart), and that was personal.
